A fox (likely) breached my electric fence this morning, killing two and injuring one. I think it was trying to escape with the survivor but dropped her when getting shocked on the way out. I found her hiding in a bunch of daffodil stems.

We took her to the vet. She has a broken wing and three puncture wounds (one under wing and two on back between wings). The vet gave her a meloxicam injection, antibiotic injection, and sent us home with daily meloxicam and told us to flush the punctures with saline solution twice a day. The vet doesn't think the fox punctured the air sac, but it's not definite. The hen did sneeze some blood and her breathing was a little rattly, but that seems better since this morning. The vet told us to keep her in a carrier until the follow-up appointment on Thursday when they'll wrap her wing. They didn't want to wrap it today because the figure 8 wrap would cover the puncture wounds on her back. The vet seem optimistic, but I'm definitely guarded on her outcome.

She is alert, standing, even talking a bit. I'd say she was definitely in shock this morning. I have Rooster Booster Vitamins/Electrolytes/Lacto Bacillus and Chicken E-lixir in her water. I haven't seen her eat or drink. Should I try to syringe some sugar water into her? Any other suggestions?

Thank you!
