Advice?

Oh okay! I think I'm going to go with a pretty small bird, I really like parakeets! But I also thought lovebirds were cute. Do you have any experience with them?
If you get a budgie, just know that they can be very flighty, skittish and hard to tame. I'm not saying you shouldn't get one, but they can take a while to warm up to you if they weren't hand fed.

I second this. Budgies are probably the least cuddly of all the parrot species. They can still be affectionate with their owners, but the taming prosses is longer then other birds. They're more of watching birds that enjoy the cuddles every now and then.

If you are looking for a bird to be a cuddly constant companion, I'd go with a larger bird like a cockatiel, conure, lovebird, or something similar.

Whatever type of bird you decide to get, make sure they are getting plenty of socialization. This is extremely important especially if you only have one bird. They are flock birds and need attention just like dogs and cats. Make sure you are hanging out and playing with your bird for a good few hours every day. If you cannot provide a single bird with the attention it needs, get two.

Andddd just going to add some pictures of my budgies.
