Afraid of the dark?

I have one chick that gets very upset when the lights get turned off for the night. Do some chicks get afraid of the dark? She eventually calms down and goes to sleep. Just trying to understand the behavior.

Do you dim it gradually or shut it off abruptly? It doesn't feel natural to them to have light suddenly go poof.

It's to be expected, you'd be startled too if the lights suddenly went out. I wouldn't worry about it
