After 5 months, a GREEN egg! Is this an Easter Egger?

I'm so excited! Another green egg just in time for Thanksgiving--that makes 3 green eggs in 4 days--amazing!

That most certainly is a beautiful hen! She reminds me of my two, in body and head conformation.
I had been wondering what the difference was between EE and Ameracaunas. I traded for mine. They are dark but one has golden-based feathers, and one silvery based (don't know proper terminology). They are 2 years old and just finishing their molt. We have gotten one pale blue egg so far. It is medium and had the enlongated shape, like yours in the pic.
I was told mine were Ameracaunas, but I didn't know there was a difference til I came to BYC.

Hi,

Just an update! Another green egg today (this one weighed a full 2 ounces), so this makes 4 eggs in 5 days!

That is an easter egg. However, I'm not so sure that's an easter egger. I have never seen them with black and white patterns. Usually they are black, brown, russety-red, and/or yellow. It is possible it is a cross breed that inherited the egg color and not the looks. Are there no other possibilities for who could have laid it? That just doesn't look like an easter egger to me.

Hi chickorama,

She may look odd, but I feel sure she is the only one that could have laid it. The only other chickens with her are 3 leghorns which have all been laying white eggs, one polish hen that also lays a white egg, a very small black and white bantam (don't know the breed) that lays a tiny egg, 2 frizzle bantams that lay small ivory eggs, and 7 white Silkies that lay small ivory/beige eggs (when they're not broody, that is)!

Not only that, I have seen her sitting in the nest (several times) looking like she was about to lay just before I found the green egg in that same nest. I noticed that she has a funny habit of playing with the hay with her beak when she's waiting to lay.

The egg is much too large to be from the Silkies or the bantams and I don't think the others are good candidates, either!

I really feel certain that the black and white hen laid the green egg but I certainly appreciate your input! Maybe I have an "Easter Egger" in a rare color!
