Granny's gone and done it again

I had shingles a year or so ago, never had a chicken pox shot. I got the chicken pox along with all the other little kids in my mother's sphere, they used to have "chicken pox parties" so all the kids would get a good case of them all at once and thereafter be immune. This was in the late 50's, early 60's and I'm sure encouraged by all the doctors of the
I dont know :idunno
Maybe the kid who started the party got it from a shot? Or maybe you fall into one of those "minority" groups that still got it?
I just know it was proven enough there was actually a class action lawsuit against the vaccine company, with people who could prove they had the shot and now have shingles getting pay outs. Maybe it was hushed up now because of how hot a topic vaccines are. I remember seeing andd hearing th e adds for the class action everywhere, and my parents being outraged that they may get shingles in the future now. Once you have shingles you always have it, it lives in your nerves. It just lives quietly most of the time. But it will flare up and inflame all your nerves again.

I don't believe they had a shot for it then.

There was a shot for smallpox, and thank God for that! What a horrendous disease that was/is! But I'm thinking we probably better move to other topics. This could go political real quick, and we don't want that.

One of our hens is laying soft shells 😞
We have started her on the calcium citrate with vitamin d3. I hope she gets over it, and doesn't have something serious wrong.

If you got the chicken pox shot as a child thats how you got shingles. Actually normal chicken pox rarely turns into shingles, its almost always from the form they put in the shots.
Nope, never had the shot. I think I may have contacted 'silent chicken pox' from taking care of my dad when he had shingles. Many of the blisters he had broke and I'm sure I got the fluid on me at one point or another. I talked to a nurse at the health dept. and she told me you can have the chicken pox without symptoms or have just a bump or two and not associate them with the full blown disease. Great. In 2007 I got shingles...on my ummmm....okay, my butt....it's a medical term easier to type than gluteus maximus. Left side and up to my lower back. Trust me it was miserable. Couldn't sit, couldn't lay comfortably. Longest 2 weeks of my life and it left me with post shingles neuralgia in my sciatic nerve.

Trust me, I don't recommend shingles at all.

When my DH needed help with his calcium after they messed with his PTH gland, I thought they would have some sort of fancy calcium. Nope, oyster shell calcium tablets. 5 x 5 times a day and tums for an emergency dose.

I was LMAO.
