After almost 2 years something got in?

Here is the backside.. staples to hold the hardware cloth in place with this wood on top of that also stapled in. When I redo the run ill be doing screws with fender washers and staples.View attachment 1170688

FYI........for next time.......always better to attach wires, fences, etc. to the front side so when the animal tries to get it, they are pushing against the frame too (from standpoint of animal trying to get in, framing is behind the wire). Otherwise, all they have to do is push the fasteners out. If you think about it, it is easier to pull a nail straight back out than it is to rip it out sideways. So with wire in front, you get twice the safety from the same materials and same effort on your part.

And I agree. Not likely the possum pushed that wire out. Something bigger and badder did that. Possum would use it, but not be able to do it. A coon would and could do that.

What you caught may not be what got in...don't let your guard down.
I ain't letting my guard down that easily.. trap is set for another critter to jump right in and be trapped. You'd be surprised how strong that possum was.. after watching him climb this trap sideways and everything else I have no doubts he could have done that. The run has the wire on the outside not inside.. this was the coop that was a premanufactured deal that will soon be just for raising chicks somewhere safe in the future.. as the new coop will be with the run sealed/attached and not a seperate unit right now the security probably is not real great with the current design.

I was checking around the cage tonight after getting home late and found this hair attached to it. Does it look like a coon hair or is it just me?

Am not seeing a hair attached to cage...see a couple raggedy feathers on the ground.
Maybe circle it if you have photo editing software,
or say something like '3 wires over from left and 2 wires up from bottom'.
