One of our ducklings presented with angel wing this past week. I took Blondie to the vet, where s/he got a comprehensive check up (excellent health) and was wrapped. The vet wants us to change to a feed that is less than 16% protein. Any suggestions?

Until we can figure this out, they will be getting a mix of birdseed which they got to sample and can't get enough of mix in with a lesser amount of starter growth feed. They will still get all the tomatoes, lettuce and peas that they can handle as well.

Is layer feed higher or lower on protein?

I figured that. We just want to make sure our babies get what they need.

A cerial grain like wheat, corn oats ect, all low In protein. 8% ish, could use it to cut their feed.

I that’s if you can find them right now. Some places are over picked. Another option might be rolled oats you get from a feed store if you can’t find plain oatmeal.

There is corn mixed on with the bird seed. The bird seed is a custom mix from a local feed store. High % of milo, cracked corn, a white/yellow seed, sunflower seed. I dont know the protein %.

I will look into the duck pellets by purina.
