well, i have totally botched up 2 bators full of purchased eggs now thanks to my bator temps dropping low.
in desperate attempts i added a heat lamp to the room to heat up the overall temps to try and increase the bator temp.
then i guess the bator started working right and temps soared while i was at work.
cooked the first batch of eggs on first day of lockdown. totally disgusted with myself!!!!!!!
ran the bator empty for a week, temps fine.
added more purchased eggs, the same thing happened again.
this time it was the first day of the eggs being in the bator.
i ran out and bought a new bator. i doubt the eggs will survive the temp increase ( was 114 f )
i am going to leave them about a week, then candle. i don't have much faith they will develop.
i think i have angered the chicken gods! .....
i hooked up the brand new bator. the plan was to sit the full egg turner down in the new bator. however, the old egg turner was a little too big for the new bator. the weight shifted and i had pressed it down a little too hard, the corner broke off my brand new bator, ugh!
well to keep this long story from getting longer...
i have been depressed and chick deprived, until today.
3 of my 5 broody hens are hatching babies!
at last, i have chicken babies!!!!!!!!!!
my first cuckoo marans chick and my first silver laced polish chick~ yipee!!
i also have marans/ee mix just for fun
