So, i’ve treated 2/4 of my hens for their bumblefoot. The two that have been treated are still separated from the other hens. It’s been a few weeks for each of them, and they do have scabs over the area of bumblefoot and the swelling is gone. I was just wondering how much longer i have to keep them separated for? Because i still have to treat the other two but i don’t have anywhere to put them. Also, i read something about how they shouldn’t roost for a minimum of 2 weeks after surgery, is this true, and if it isn’t, can i put them back into the normal run after surgery, or only keep them separated for a week or so?

You can le them back out. I never even separated mine when I was treating. I just treated with Vetrycin and neosporin, wrapped, and let them back with the flock. You can release your birds, now I bet. But these member will know better then me! @Isaac 0 @cooingcrow1

Thanks, they’ll be very happy to be back with their friends, even though they get to play with them everyday. I am also vetericyn and neosporin for aftercare, and so far it seems to work well. I just hope it doesn’t take too long to heal because wrapping hens who don’t like to be held is a pain.

Agreed! I had the same issue! Good job with you flock!
