What happens to the broody after the eggs hatch? What if she doesnot snap out of it? I have a brooder set up incase she still doesn't get up or move it. If she doesn't get up and still wants to sit I'm thinking chicks can go in the brooder and the broody hen in the broody breaker. I have a cage for that as well. I'm worried she isnt.moving or tucking the chicks underneath her at all. Granted it is 93 out and in the mini coop it's probably 100

It usually takes 2-3 days for the broody to leave the nest after hatch. Occasionally you will get one who would rather sit on the eggs than get up, which results in dead chicks, if the offspring aren't removed from their mother.

I usually throw out any eggs that haven't hatched after 2 days since first pip. It will encourage the mother the leave the nest. You can also try disrupting the nest, like removing all the bedding or taking her out and blocking it off.

Ok I'll keep an eye on her
I candeled the last three eggs one was a total dud and I took it out and it smelled too. Cracred it open and it looks like an early dud around day three
The other small egg looks like a dud too but has no oder so I'll let it sit till Tuesday and the large egg which I really want is the cookuo muran (I probably butchered the name) and I see the air sack and a large mass I think that one is still a possibility
Once Tuesday hit's I'll take them all out Tuesday is 21 days the laced Cochins are early

I normally move my hen from the nest 1-2 days after the first hatch (i leave it two days if some eggs are still to hatch) and then put mum and chicks in a mini-coop. She will snap out of her sitting if you do this.

She is in the mini coop already I'll just have to hope that she moves her broody booty and if not I'll take her out and the Chicks and put them in the dog crate for a few days to change the atmosphere

Must be a stubborn mum! But yes, if she is not doing her thing, then the little ones may perish.
