after giving up on my lg incubator.. I HAVE 94 CHICKS!!

i have rhode island reds, barred rocks,buff orpingtons, sumatras, and a few game chicks..all are healthy so far... now im taking them to the sale. and i just filled it up last night, 140 more eggs, this time light sussex, RIR,black jersey giants, black australops, and sumatras. cant wiat to get some more!!!!

wow do chickens live in alaska?? i live in texas it has been over 100 degrees for over 16 days straight, and 20 days so far. i keep my incubator and hatcher in the house in a spare bed room..

You all are in a oven down there, I feel for you. It hit 74 here today and I was dripping, way to warm for me, upper 60's is nice.
Yes, chicks do just fine in Alaska, our winters are generally warmer then North Dakota, Minnesota and a few of the other northern climates. It gets cold for a while and they like to stay in the coop but we pretty much let them out anytime it's above zero and they do just fine. When it hits those -20 weeks, we lock up the coop and keep them inside so the combs, waddles and toes don't freeze.

Cmom-I hope you know it was kidding about your temps and not running your sportsman, I don't know how you can do it down there, it's warmer then the incubator should be, how do you cool it down?

I made an incubator out of a very large ice chest we had. Added a fan, lightbulb connected to a water heater thermostat, a dish with a sponge and water in it, and I lifted one side and put a piece of wood under that side to hold it up, and moved the wood to the other side, a few times each day. Had over 95% hatch rate, and it would hold more than 100 eggs at a time!!!! Loved it!!!! But I ended up with quite a few roosters, that was a big disappointment.
