I have my quail on Layer crumbles because my feed store doesn't have anything else in the little crumbles. Can I feed that to my ducks after they are off the starter? I'd love to be able to buy just one big bag of food instead of 2 types.

I moved my ducklings from starter to grower-maintenance feed at about two to three weeks of age, because layer ration had way too much calcium for them (long term health is a concern for me). When they started showing signs of getting ready to lay, I gave them free choice oyster shell once a week. When they started laying, the oyster shell started being offered daily.

I would find a cool dry place to store the layer feed until the ducks are at least twelve weeks old. If they are already that age or more, then I would feel okay giving it to the females, but not to drakes.
