After tornado in Joplin

We have a few city slicker customers that actually believe that All brown eggs are organic. W e tried to explain but, they won't buy any of our blue/green eggs - only brown. I think - they think "those eggs - must be going bad.'

And these are educated people.

I remembr my friend, Jake, telling me about this lady coming in to buy a dozen white eggs from him. He had only brown and offered her those. She reused them. He had just 1 white egg so he took the one white and 1 brown egg under the counter broke each one into a different cup and put them on the counter. Asked her if she could tell the difference.
She said she didn't care she wanted white eggs period.
We both just shook our heads.

At the grocery store we get eggs from a certain egg producer and there is a light brown egg that shows up once in awhile in a carton and I have seen customers put that carton aside until a person who knows about chickens comes in and takes it.

I'm slowly going to Auracana's ....since I've retired , I've gotten more chickens and my grandson has gotten interested , so we go to poultry swaps etc....he likes Barred Rocks / Dominecker's ....I like ANY type chicken , but I'm going to the Auracanas' as people ask for eggs for free " since just me and the wife can't possibly eat all those eggs "....I'm not doing it for the money , they free range etc , but I would like a little back on my investment.....soooo.....I'm going to the Easter eggers , so they won't be asking for FREE......the family knows about EE's (Easter eggers) as I've had them before ( they are usually calm , broody , and good reliable layers) so I'm hoping this will slow the freebies......my wife takes some to work for the people that work there and ask for eggs and always throw 2 or 3 dollars on the table as a thank you....she has told them about the colored eggs and they think it's really neat ....so we'll see what happens.......
Just got a pair of Toulouse Geese , haven't had geese for 30 years or so ( had Africans , I raised from chicks , they would attack kids and wife if they got close too me and the cattle dog , so had to part with them) , a guy was moving and offered them too me for cheap , so I thought I'd try them and see , as the wife has mellowed a bit , of course the first thing out of her mouth was " if they attack me or the grandkids , you know they'll be Christmas dinner?"" , so I said we'll see , just be nice and we'll see......so far they are docile and quite entertaining , she even bought a kids play pool for them........
