I have one pullet in my flock that seems very "tired". I actually saw her walking around with her eyes closed. See is now out in the middle of the run, hunkered down, asleep with the other 9 living life all around her. Yesterday was the 5th day on sulmet, I believe they had cocci, due to blood in stools. They are 15 weeks red sex links. The comb is very light colored. Haven't seen any other symtoms, of any kind. Also, I did see her drink a bit of water. I have added ACV this morning, since we are done with the sulmet.

Any ideas?

I don't really know but this will get you back to the top where someone will, however I do have a hen who seems ok but, she is pale pale pale I have heard all kinds of things. You could try giving her an extra dose of vit. or wheat germ oil. Hope someone answers you soon. Good Luck

Sulmet doesn't treat all kinds of coccidiosis, so if you think she is getting a relapse of the disease, I'd look into Corid. In case you haven't heard of it, it's amprolium, the same stuff put in medicated chick feed, and works better against cocci than Sulmet.

Try some plain yogurt with her also. The chickens love it and it will restore the digestive flora that the Sulmet wiped out. It could be she just doesn't have enough of the good gut bacteria left and is drained from it.

Best of luck with her!

you need to treat the gut problem after using sulmet

use the wet mash probiotic
milk
yoguart
Vit E and Vit B complex

do this for a week then three times a week then once a week for life

put in wet mash probiotic with vit's and it should come up on any of the coccidiosis posts
email me any questions
