after years of being in the shadows I just have to say HI and WOW !!!! some people think I'm crazy for having chickens and others are just amazed (my self included ) on how cool owing chickens can be. Learning a lot, getting lots of ideas, fun seeing other peoples chickens and learning a lot more. I do have 8 girls (mixed flock ) 1 rabbit, 1 g-pig, and a new heeler mix puppy (driving me nuts)

Hi and [IMG] - glad that you have joined us. Being slightly obsessed with chickens is perfectly normal here at BYC and I'm sure that you will fit right in [IMG]

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area -

    All the best

Hi, great to have you here! I am raising my first flock and, like you, am finding this site to be a great resource with friendly members. I totally understand about the new puppy/driving you nuts thing. We have a large predator population here so I decided it would be sensible to get two newf pups. Wow. Sensible it was not. It has become painfully clear I am no longer 25 years old. The dogs are now six months old and things are becoming much easier. The chickens are safe from excess puppy enthusiasm in their run, but birds and dogs seem to accept each other as a normal part of the landscape, so to speak, so I am hopeful. Let me know how things progress at your end.

You may be interested in a thread called "J'est another day in Pear A Dice," started by a very talented woman, who I regard as a Aussie Cattle dog expert.. She would be perfect to field your questions about dealing with your new pup.

If you put the thread name in the searchbox it will pop up. I believe she put up a new post earlier today.

Hey @a bit cracked and I would like to say [IMG]!
I am sooo happy you joined us here at BYC and I hope you learn a bunch of new chicken facts while you are here! Being a "crazy chicken lady" is as @drumstick diva says a lot is a title to be proud of! We always like to have members like you that are very into raising chickens and treating them with the best of care! Do not be ashamed of lurking because many of us even me lurked for sometimes more than a year! It is great you finally stood out of the dark and showed yourself to us! I have some links that should be helpful to you as well as some questions about your flock...
    1. How old are your chickens?
    2. How many eggs have you gotten?
    3. How long have you owned your chickens?

Also here are some links that will help you out in my opinion...

This last link is just as a free time if you ever want to post pics and updates on how you and your flock are this is where to go...

I hope you are enjoying BYC as much as I do and I wish you the very best of luck with your flock. Have a great day!
