Again... It's a nightly thread!

No. Both of the ones I was looking at got adopted. That's a good thing for them, but a little sad for me.
The good news is that my SO actually sounded disappointed when I told him that they had been adopted. I'm taking that as a big A-OKAY for getting one, so I'm keeping my eye on petfinders.com. Plus the director at the one shelter told me she will e-mail me if another becomes available.

And Deb, just cuz this is your thread doesn't mean I have to tell ya what "it" is.

Nite Deb. Sure you don't want some of this yellow rice and peas before you go to bed? Sounds strange, but very tasty or maybe I'm just real hungry. 'Course it would be better if it also had some chicken and mushrooms in it, but that would be like....cooking.

I have never heard of yellow rice, what is it? MMM...that does sound good though.

All these people here were talking about steak earlier, I have been a vegan for a long time but I still cannot stop craving rare steak. I am fine until someone brings it up!!! I'm a bad vegan huh???

Nah, I'm sure you're a fine vegan. You have more conviction and willpower than I do. I was raised in an irish family that believes in big hearty meals, meat definitely included. We've been saving money by not buying steak as often, but I do crave big juicy steaks. Tonight I did the rice and peas thing because I don't cook on the nights my SO works until 3 AM. He'll eat leftovers when he gets home.
Yellow rice is just basically white rice with saffron added to give it a different taste and nice color. The way I usually make it is a variation on a cuban recipe. Just cook the rice, add some peas, some sliced mushrooms, and some spiced chicken.
You should be able to find yellow rice already pre-packaged in the rice section of the store.
Have a great night Rebecca. I'm still doing updates on my puter, so gonna be wandering on the net for a bit yet.
