This is probably going to sound like a ridiculous question to most of you, but I've heard such conflicting information from people I know that I wanted to put this one to some experts. My coop is almost finished and in a couple of days, I'm going to select my new hens. I've agreed to take a couple of four month silkie hens from a friend and was planning to pick up three or four twelve week olds as well. My question is can I put these tweens with the four-month old silkies? I definitely don't want to create a situation where any of my chickens are injured due to improper housing on my part. :(

Help!

Thanks.

You may have no problems but as a contingency we have put up a little fence until they get along. I had a Silky that I was worried about but when she went out with the big BCM hens she actually was the aggressor.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe an extra little fenced in area might be a good idea, but what happens at night? Also, I neglected to mention that the twelve week olds are RIRs. I'm not sure if this matters.

Thank you for the input. :)
