We have a mixed flock of 5 different breeds (Brahmas, Orps, EEs, Delawares and Polish). They are about 22 weeks old, and we have representatives of each laying except the Buff Brahmas. I understand they are late to mature - at about what age can I expect eggs?

Usually about 30 weeks old. Some are early starters, but they are the exception to the norm. One of mine started at 19 weeks, surprisingly, but the other one at 30 weeks which is the more normal time for them.

My first brahma to lay was a light brahma at 19 weeks. I have several laying now at 24 1/2 weeks, all lights except one buff and one dark that started last week.
My birds are hatchery stock, which I believe may make a difference in that they are not as true to the standard.

Mine are from McMurray's. They certainly look less mature than my other hens, only one has really red comb/wattles, and hers have been red forever.
