age for brooder switch from paper towels to shavings

At what are should I plan to switch my brooder floor from paper towels to pine shavings with Sweet pdz

For standard breed chicks I switch after 2 days. What's important is that they know what is food and what isn't before you switch.

tim tx is correct mcmurray hatchery says take it out after first day but only if they realize that shavings arent food

I change over as soon as they have rested enough after hatching to have good legs and balance. Normally 2-4 days after the last hatchling is added.

Thank you.. I want to be sure they get off to a good start. I've read about using the heat lamp with a dimmer so maybe that will work well too.
