At what age do poults start laying eggs?????????????? We have 2 - 5 month old turkeys (male and female) and as of the past couple days they are not around in the morning but do show up later. It just came to me that she might be on eggs. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!!! =]

I've never had any that young to lay. Usually it's the next spring before they lay.

Thanks! There is a flock of wild turkeys floating around and I have been concerned that our babies might join them. =[ Knowing this regarding egg laying there is a strong possibility that this is what is happening.
Thanks again!!!!

I got my poults this spring, March I think, and my hen started laying around the beginning of october. 6/7mths.

But do they keep laying like chickens? or have a season. If so how long before the mating season is over? I have mine separated now because 1 hen to 4 toms made for some side wounds on her. But I only have 1 coop so I hope I can reunite them before the weather gets too cold. (after freezer camp for 2 toms)

Mine started laying last week hatched late April they're Midget Whites so I don't think the Bourbons are going to lay this fall they are the same age. I was hoping I would get some eggs to try and hatch as it stays warm here until Thanksgiving or later I'm learning too. I gave mine a nice dog house and they just lay the eggs where ever they seem to be at the time....

I tried the dog house too, a dogloo to be exact. She would not lay in it or get out of the rain in it. We finally made her a coop out of an old hay ring the other week.(pics in the coop thread). put some hay in it and she picked out a corner and has laid an egg a day since.

i so hope she is on eggs, cuz i really love those two. they are like puppies, they follow us all around the property and stay by the house when we are inside. unfortunately they have not shown up yet, so it's not looking good. =[
thanks again for all and any info.

I always find mine in the trees in the morning but they do hide out back some in the after noon may be were the sun is and open sky

Here is a pic I took a month or so ago of our babies Reno & Virginia.
