I inherited these 2 chicks from a friend who's dog was eating their chicks. Last 2 left. A silver laced wyandotte and was told the other is a blue ameraucana.
Does anyone have an idea of there age or if they are roo's or pullets.
Thank you!

Silver one is not Ameraucana, they have beards. Are they supposedly the same ages? I agree the Wyandotte at least looks about 6/7 weeks, it’s not as developed looking as mine that is 9 weeks, but definitely further developed than my 5 weeker. I have no clue on the age of the silver one, although as mentioned above self blue OEGB is probably what it is. I just don’t have experience at all to guess age for that breed.

Thank you. I have wondered the same thing, about them being the same age. The silver one is so much smaller. Like a dove or pigeon. She has no clue on the age. Did not get them when they were day/days old chicks. I think she has had them a couple of weeks.

Yeah, if it’s a bantam it’s going to be tiny!! I have a couple Dutch Bantams and (this will sound silly because they’re ALL birds) they actually look like regular birds. Lol. Their combs are only just starting to be noticeable, so for the longest time they didn’t really look anything like a chicken at all. And even now at 12+ weeks old they’re still palm-sized!

Next to my 15wk Sebright roo for comparison:

Awww! So cute! Your sebright is beautiful. Do they lay half sized eggs as well. And yeah looks like a regular bird. If it is a batam will it be able to be with my regular size chickens?

Mine don’t lay yet, but I’ve read that their eggs are similar in size to quail eggs. Mine are in with my full sized birds, and haven’t had any issues so far, BUT none of my Roos are trying to mate yet. Idk if it would become an issue or not 🤷🏼‍♀️
I am working on building a separate coop for all my bantams, but that’s moreso because I have too many roosters and am hoping that separating my Sebright with his “own” hens will help ensure they all continue to get along!
