Age that Coturnix male will "foam"

Well at 6 weeks weeks old (if everything goes as planned) it will be about mid may or so. They will be in a heated garage anyway, it shouldn't get colder than about 65, so not to cold.

Happy poop chute looking upping!

Was wondering the same thing.

lol, x3 I don't care for the look of solid strains which is why I'm going for tux.s and whites, hate to say it but I find most cots ugly however they have numerous other plus sides so that is why I want them.

Meaning that You, Me, and anyone that has been raising coturnix for any amount of time can color sex wild pattern birds in way less than 5 weeks. With 90% efficacy. It's just my suggestion, that's all. The others will have to be vent sexed, or beer sexed, and that takes more time and feed.

I want to sell eggs and a "finnished" product anyway so that dosn't bother me. I figure if I sell birds locally at 6 weeks old the customer can take them home and feed them for another week or 2 then butcher them or they can buy 6 week old hens from me and have layers in no time, there for I could maybe ask a little more for started birds. I don't plan on ever getting very big so I'm not worried about absorbing the market. If someone wants a few of their own to breed it wouldn't bother me to sell them what they want. Mine will be "mixed up" anyway. I plan on putting a white male over tuxedo hens.

Well, if you are going to grow them out for at least 6 weeks, and you feed them right and give them proper light, then you should have no problem with your model, no matter what colors you are raising. I was simply saying that you could cut down your time and feed bill, by choosing a color sexable strain. I'm just a bean counter. I offered my best advice at turning around birds at the least cost of time, money, and pen space. You also don't have to go fiddling up their poo-shoots, but that aversion is apparently mine alone.

You should not have any problem with your business model

I worked for the last 4 years being cover in cattle, pig, sheep, goat, and horse manure so the poop dosn't bother me to bad, lol. I don't know how much of a business it will be, but I guess we will see if and when the property end works out.
