I eliminated all but one of my barred rock roosters for obvious reasons. Today, that rooster, attacked and bit me as I was picking up a feed cup I had dropped. He went through the whole wing flapping and spurring routine, although, at five months he doesn't yet have spurs. I had one of those, "Tina, bring me the axe!" moments (anybody see "'Mommy Dearest"?). Then I thought, he's to old to caponize. Maybe coq au vin or rooster salad? After I regained my composure, I remember hearing that guinea cocks will whip the snot out of, if not kill, a rooster. And I have several male guineas which, although younger, are almost as big as he is. Here's my quandry. How do I keep him in his place? Has anyone had this experience?

My guineas made all my roosters mean like that too. I got rid of the guineas...and got rid of the mean roo's. Now I have a sweet gentle roo.
