Ok- I posted two weeks ago after a bear killed all but one of my hens. Well, I gave my one girl (she was clearly the top of the pecking order at my house) to my parents who have 6 hens. We put her in a separate area of the run where they can see each other thru the chickenwire fence and IMMEDIATELY she started to hurt and bloody every hen who came to check her out thru the fence- I’m talking like chicken karate warrior princess shit, evil acrobatics!
She has been nothing but a problem attacking at any chance she got. The others are harmoniously living in the coop and other part of the run. My dad tried to let them free range together (16 acres and millions of grasshoppers) and all she did was attack, grabbing on and not letting go.
My dad freaked out and whacked her with a broom and must have rung her bell cause she acted weird for a day but it now back to being mean.
I feel so bad cause their flock was so chill and happy before she came along.
Has anyone had this issue before?
Did it ever finally resolve itself?
I told my parents that it takes a lot time.
My dad is losing patience and about the have her “get eaten by a fox”.

Sometimes when a bird survives a predator they can become traumatized and hyper aggressive because of it. Than you moved her to a new flock and home which also is confusing. She's just reacting. She needs time to settle and process what's happened. I would leave her be for a few weeks at least. If that's not possible than culling her may be a kinder thing for her.

Sigh. Yeah. I feel so bad for her. Everything I read was saying she cannot be alone, that it is detrimental to them so I moved her there. I almost wish I just kept her but winter in Montana is long and cold and I didn’t think she would make it alone.
we will see what happens I guess. We supposedly still have a few weeks of warmth left before winter here so she needs to acclimate before then so she can go in the coop. Poor girl.
