i raise all my ducks from days old, and they are all super friendly and sweet. i’ve raised five drakes in the past and all of them have been friendly and loved to cuddle and hang out with us (sadly we only have one of these guys still. lost one to a predator, rehomed two because we didn’t have enough girls, and one was just a foster. but the one we still have is super sweet and loving at almost two years old)

anyways, my newest drake is only 13 weeks old and is already getting mean and aggressive. he bites me (even though up until now he has loved me), and will chase anyone else. he also mates with the girls whenever they are in the pool, even if they don’t want to and try to get away. any suggestions on what to do?

Separate him out til his hormones get a little more under control. What does the older drake do when this guy is being a jerk? Or are they separate?
when mine start acting up like this, they get pinned and pecked with my finger if they’re purposely biting me. If they’re in my way and being pushy, they get pecked on the shoulder until they move. Every. Time. Lol. It’s tedious but it sure works. Mine just turned 4 months old and he’s got it figured out. If he comes up to me like that all full of himself, all I do is literally point my finger at him like I’m going to peck him and he turns tail. Otherwise, if I approach him or he wanders over politely, I pet him. All I’m asking for is some manners. My older duck also schooled him in proper etiquette when it comes to the ladies. The first time he tried to get on her and she didn’t want it, she alligator rolled and grabbed him instead. How embarassing! 🤣

my older boy is staying with a friend for a couple months, until we can find him some bigger girls. he’s a pekin and all of our girls are under like 5 pounds.

i’ve tried the “pecking” and pinning him down. it never works. and he bites hard. i’m worried about next spring, since he’s already acting like this at 3 months old (he started mating at 9 weeks!)

Ah ok. You might be able to put the 2 boys together and let the older guy “school” him. Saves you having to do it. Lol. An older drake will pin him and sit on him for as long as he feels like until the humiliation is complete. :P Of course, supervision is necessary when first introduced to make sure no real damage is being done.
if you pin him, it has to feel ridiculously tedious to you and he has to completely give up and just go limp. For a while. Not just a couple seconds. I’ve actually spent 10 minutes straight with a knee on my guy’s back (not my full weight) and let everyone else come up to see what was going on. Some even pecked him and humiliated him further. 🤷🏼‍♀️
