Aggressive drake! Help

I have a pair of ducks. I used to have a male and 2 females but a couple of months ago one of my hens got swooped up by an owl. Ever since then my drake has been quite aggressive towards us. Every time we go outside he charges at us and now even is biting at are feet. They are free range and have plenty of room and a nice big pond. Does any one know why?

He may be trying to protect her. How secure is their area? Is she sitting on a nest?

Well they are free range so they have about 1.5 to 2 acres to roam around in. As far as I know my little girl hasn't started laying yet. She isn't sitting on a nest either.
