I have 5 hens and one of them is acting like a rooster, she bites the other hens and tries to mount them like a rooster. How do I stop her from being so aggressive?

One of my friends used a "hobble" to take her hen down a few notches... essentially tying the legs together to slow down the chicken for a week or so. It worked for her.

I use a time out box, first in sight for a day... if it doesn't work then out of sight so the aggressor HAS to work their way back into the pecking order.

I had a Production Red pullet that would mount lower flock members... If I won't let a rooster bnald my hens I sure ain't gonna let a female get away with it...

One sure fire way to stop it in it's tracks... rehome or freezer camp... IF it is indeed a female, I don't care... they aren't above the law here! :drool

Note... I ONLY have issues with juveniles (teenagers) behaving in this manner. Those with something to prove. :smack

:fl

One other possible solution... Peepers.

If she is creating unnecessary tension in the flock there is no reason you have to keep her, eggs or no. You have to do what is best for your flock.

Agrees....but...
I would have gotten rid of her but she lays nice green eggs.
If you want to try to manage the situation, there are a couple things you could do. But need to know more about your flock and their housing before making suggestions:
-Your flock size(numbers, ages, genders).
-Your coop and run sizes (in feet by feet with pics).
-What all and how exactly you are feeding.
-Do you have a cock/erel(s).
-Any recent additions to the flock, or other changes.
