I have a 3 year old peacock who was hand reared from an incubated egg. In the past 6-8 months he has become territorial and quite aggressive. He will not hesitate to attack if we are too close to his pen (which is open and was where he grew up) I recently acquired a female but both of them opt to hang out with the chickens. Is this aggressiveness usual? Is there anyway to break it?:/

Have you ever heard the old saying, "Familiarity breeds contempt"? Very frequently pet raised animals, especially those closer to their wild origins, come to regard their keeper as an equal. With many animals - poultry in particular - because of their social structure, equals must be taught their position in the social order. His aggression is all about proving his dominance. There are many threads about changing the over aggressive nature of roosters. Some of these methods might serve to adjust his attitude. Good luck in assuring him that you are dominant.

And soon as I went out to put our ducklings out for the day and he flogged me putting a little hole in my arm. (He is not aggressive to any animals!)
