I think for that to work, they have to be a long way away. I have kept an extra cockerel in an adjacent coop and run, where he could see the girls, and he could see my top rooster. It worked fine. He spent his time at the fence line, and wasn't thrilled about the arrangement, but those were sure peaceful days for everyone else.My sister says: "If he sees the hens in the bachelor pad it doesn't work because not seeing his girls to set of aggression."
