Aggressive Rooster to Pullets

I have a 5 month old Copper Maran Rooster that is so violent with the hens, they are 14 weeks old, he picks out a different one daily and chases her into the walls and gets her pinned and just pecks at her. I rescued my Buff Orp this morning when I went out to let them out, she was limp and making awful noises. I took the rooster out of the pen and separated him until I figure out what to do. None of the hens will come down off the roost, my Buff Orps roost lower so they are the first one to get his wrath. Is this normal behavior or what, I have had roosters before but none that was so relentless on going after the hens until they were injured or frightened. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Some are like that, give him a few more months and see how he acts.. Or you can eat him, or pass him along to someone else. Some young roosters are especially like that if hens don't submit.

I am in a similar situation. My dark cornish cockerel who is almost the same age as yours is terrible with my pullets. I am honestly thinking about eating him soon! I have a barred cochin who has a joint problem who doesn't get around much. He is constantly going over and either pecking at her or trying to mate her.

Should I leave him when the hens are hurt, to me it looks pretty ruff, He does a good job as far as keeping them safe, but at what cost, I am just used to having Large Cochin Rooster's that are gentle, when this guy is chasing, the Rooster in the other pen with his own ladies hears the girls crying and it almost kills him that he can't get in there to help them.

Just like teenage boys. Many are like that, but will grow out of it. If he`s not drawing blood, things should improve with a little maturity.........Pop
