You have switched from being a flock mate to being a "rooster" threat. Meaning, he is looking at you as competition for the hens. He's not afraid of you because you handled him as a chick.
I have a polish rooster who is nine months old, and very attentive to his ladies. He has never made a move to attack me. I think this is probably the case due to his breed as well as my not handling him as a chick or a youngster. I also really try not to upset the hens or be a perceived threat to them when he is around.
If he becomes human aggressive for some reason, I'll cull him. I had a nasty rooster before, and I don't want another one. The polish is beautiful and adds character to the flock, but I don't want him enough to put up with aggression. You might need to try a little rehabilitation for your rooster - grab him off the roost at night and put him in his own pen. Let him watch you deal with the hens without being able to get to you, at least until his hormones calm down a little. He's a crazy teen aged boy right now. Then, you can try again with the flock. If he doesn't feel threatened or feel like he might be usurped at the flock master, he may calm down. He should yield way to you and allow you to handle the hens (carefully) in his presence. You may need to get rid of him if he doesn't settle down. It's what you feel like dealing with.
My first rooster was well acquainted with my foot! My second has never done anything to cause that to be needed.
