Agressive male Quail

i went up the garden to see my quail and before my eyes i witnessed a murder. my male mounted my female and she simply keeled over . she went into spasm and 10 seconds later she was dead. on closer inspection i realised her necked was broken. so my male snapped the females neck. anyone heard of this ??? and shall i cull the male ??

How many females do you have with this male? There needs to be at least 4, more like 5 females and up to 7 females with a male so the male will not mate them to death.
