Agressive rooster

Now one of my roosters has always been on the aggressive side. I've had him for 2 (maybe 3)years. He has chased us and gone after us, but this last week has gotten bad.
It started off one day I was cleaning out the coop and he went after my hand. Then putting food in the food trough (he's gone after me several times for that). Then today I was collecting eggs and he almost took off one of the hen's heads while going after my hand.
I know someone here is going to tell me to put him in the pot, but I want to get at least this one last year of chicks from him. (all of his sons are really sweet and mellow, but not him)
In the yard we have the dog chase him away from us, but in the coop its another story.
I have checked him for health problems and the only thing he has is mites (but he has had them before and didn't act this way I am using DE and some sprays on him/ the others with mites)
I think he's a NHRxBO mix I used him for showmanship in multiple shows, so he likes to be handled and he's ok with it, but when he can run around and do as he pleases he's another story.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

well, i sure never done it but i have heard you have to show them your boss and one way to do that is getting him on his back. or carry him by his feet around all the girls so they and he can see you are badder them him.

me, i bite back. he pecks ,i peck harder until he backs down. seems to work.

Yeah tried the "I have a rake, shovel, or other garden tool and you better not bother me" idea, but that didn't work. So now I use the dog as a personal body guard around the yard.
With the showmanship you have to hold the bird upside down so he just thinks its practice until the dog comes running over and tries to eat the bird out of my hands.
Also tried "oh so you want to go after me well I will force you to be submissive and hold you on the ground" but then he goes after me again.
Hopefully one of the chicks in the incubator come out looking like him so I can get rid of nasty, but until then I will try to hold on to him and his lovely colour. Pretty chicken ugly attitude.

Have you tried going after him instead of letting him instigate it with you?

I wouldn't want any Roosters sired by him, they tend to pass along those nasty traits... I cannot add any advice because mine would be making him a freezer camp candidate

I hatched a bunch of chicks from him and the boys were very mellow and could care less about what I do.it's just daddy is a butt head.I do plan on sending him to the freezer in the fall, but until then I want to be able to live.when I haven't been collecting eggs for the incubator I keep him in an isolated pen.and now he attacks me in the coop.when I trim his spurs he bites me instead (trim his beak also?)

Whenever he goes after you grab him and pin him on his side and look him right in the face until he stops struggling then let him go let him know that you rule the coop not him do this over and over until he finally quits it might take a few times

Personally, I wouldn't let him instigate it. Every time you go out, go after him. Challenge and win dominance in the flock. You aren't out to hurt him, just his ego. He should get out of your way, not you getting out of his.

I bathed him today because of the mites and had him on his back half the time (that works for showing dominance right?). And today is day 2 of being separated from the flock (now he has nothing so that should hurt him mentally, like if you can't be nice you can't have anything)
