My bator was running on the high side the whole time. Mine weren't doing a thing till the day they hatched.

One more is out, the one that pipped last night isn't though. Lol, these Minorca's like to pip and zip quick as they can! The other one is all white-ish!

Mine still haven't done anything, but congrats!

So there is this one that had been pipped for 24 hours, but done nothing. I wasn't home so my sis and mom tried to peel away at it a little. When I got home I saw why he hadn't done it himself. He had waited so long that it had dried a little and he couldn't move his head. But the silly bird hadn't "dried up"(blood vessels and such) yet! So I un-stuck him and put him with his attached shell in the bator, and am trying hard to raise humidity... Did I do okay? I didn't break any veins... But I think I need to get those other 3 chicks, (yeaahhh we have 5 now!) out and into the brooder so they don't peck at the shiny red vessels... They are fluffy. What do you think I should do or not do? Gaahhh I wish I had been home

i had one of my hens get off the nest to soon and one chick that was like yours was dry and cold i rub it with my finger to see if it was a alive and it was i used a warm moist wash colth over it till it was ok and moving and then kept it warm it work it self out and today we have busie
i would think that what you did is right i just make sure it keeps moist untill it moving out of the shell
good luck

He's on a damp paper towel to bring the humidity up even higher around himself.... I just had to slip my other eggs that are hatching into there so I let a little humidity out, but it should go back up. I also put a vent back in (I had both out) to keep some in. seemed to help...

He does peep. Both when I touch him and by himself. I took the other chicks out.

I came home yesterday to three hatched chicks under broody #1, a day early! She was originally sitting on six, one was bad. I gave two to the other broody yesterday, in hopes of life getting back to normal around here once the broodies are all finished.

He's gonna make it I think! his egg *FINALLY* has let go of those vessels. Now he's just trying to detach himself from the egg by his umbilical cord. He'll be fine

I've had that happen. I very carefully got the sticky stuff off using warm water. One was clearly viable if I could just unstick him so I peeled everything away with warm water and then put him back into the incubator. He was fine but needed cleaning after a few days as well. His name is still "sticky." If its stuck really badly on there they might not get it off themselves. I usually wait 24 hours before I do anything like that but all have survived when I have.

Yeah it had been 24 hours. I wasn't even the one who started the process though. And he'll definitely need to be cleaned! He's a pretty silver like one of my other chicks too
