I had to help a chick hatch this morning becasue the chick had pipped but the other chick had peced at the pip and broke the pieces that were raised off and the membrane dried and constricted around the chick

Now i have another chick hatching and the chick has piped but keeps sticking its beak out of the whole and the top of the beak is rubbing against the shell and its cutting the chick skin and now its bloody . On top of that theere is like an orangy/yellow goo all over the chick . What is this ??

Are my problems due to humidity or something ?

Someone told me that too high humidity can cause sticking too and it does make that gooey stuff apparently. What is your humidity at?

If you have chicks hatching in the bator and you haven't had it open the humidity should be high not low. The reason is that the chicks are wet when they hatch so up goes the humidity.
Are you sure your hygrometer is correct?

Get a cup of hot water and a straw. take out a plugg where you can put water in without dropping on egg. Draw up water and deposit in the whole. after you get a couple teaspoons in close all the plugs so the hum can come back up.

yeah, it won't go much lower than it already has. I would just open it instead of messing with straws etc. The socks or rags is a good idea
