I like fish too. My Oscar is so big that if we got snowed in we could eat him (but we would never eat him). But unless I get a bigger tank I have to get rid of him cause he'll get too big.

Your tank setup sounds cool. I can never get mine to look that nice because my real fish (jk) tears upi everything I put in there.

Alot of people that see my tank, including my children, suggest that I get some large fish, since I have a large tank, but, I like my small, colorful, mixed-bred fish, and I don't like the idea of having to go buy small fish for a greedy, big-mouth fish!

Doing that would cost me more than letting my small fish breed with each other, and me having to make a few fish purchases for fresh color and spots, 1-3 times yearly.

We had a big ol' Oscar once. He choked on a goldfish. Go figure.. LOL

I used to have Oscars when I was in college. Now I have a river tank that is self sufficient. The fish, newts, black worms, and plant have their own ecosystem going on and I have not had to feed anything in 3 years. All are doing well.

That sounds very interesting! Although, it sounds like a hellish time getting it up and running.

Oscars are great fish. They are the closest thing to a dog that you'll ever find in aquaria. Water-puppies, I call them!

If you saw an Oscar you would change your mind. They are the cutest fish and have such a personality. And they are hardy, I have mine in a tank infested with floating algae, I have tried to clean it but I chose a really bad spot so it gets like all the sunlight. But he is thriving.
