AHHHH!!!! Anyone else have problems with neighbors???????????????

Another thought... I would NOT sell any animals to make this guy happy. He sounds like a nutjob and if you sell your ducks, he may feel a weird, stupid power trip about it and end up becoming even more of a nuisance.

I'd say keep the birds, cull the neighbor.

Ive been lucky, I have 3 beehives and the 16 chickens, on .5 acres. No complaints yet.

I had some issues a few years ago and put up two fake security cameras that had red lights on top to make them look real. They were really cheap and alllll the bad crap stopped! My egg production nearly doubled when the cameras went up, imagine that. I figured if I had issues again I'd invest $80 in own of those motion detector game cameras to get evidence.

There is one gal who moved in down the road 2 yrs ago and she has done nothing but complain about the noise of all the livestock around her. No one is breaking any laws so she doesn't get any response from anyone official but that hasn't slowed her down. The guy behind her with cattle seems to be enjoying pasturing his in heat cows right behind her house so she can enjoy their nearly non stop yellign for attention from the bull.

I have an uneasy feeling about this guy from what you have written and feel he will continue to escalate the situation if you ignore him -- not only because he has the time and ability to, but because you and your animals have become the focus of his aberrant behavior. It's especially creepy that he has already been caught in exhibitionist behavior once, so who knows what else he's doing that he hasn't been caught at?

That said, I agree with the advice you've been given to protect your livestock with electric fencing and smaller pens away from the shared fence line.

Is there any chance of having a conversation with the guy's wife? What's she like?

Sorry you are having these stressful troubles, when all you want to do is enjoy your country lifestyle according to the rules that allow it.

man, this thread made me rage in anger...

i have delt with some neighbors like that before... one time, it came down to violence, and i had to teach him a lesson... i'm not telling you to do anything like that, but somepeople just need to get their face stomped on...

in your case, you're just going to need to make him happy... it bugs me that he's going out of his way to complain about something... that's what would send me over the top and make me want to do some kind of payback...

good luck, and we're all rootin' for you...

I'd getting signatures or maybe letters from your other neighbours saying that your poultry are accepted/not a problem. Then show that to the sheriff to back up your case. I'd be scared of him feeding your geese in case he decides he doesn't like them any more and feeds them something deadly! Barb wire the patches, or put some paint or dye on them that won't come off if he touches them!!

Have you tried to be nicer to him and say, give him some eggs now and then???
I have mellowed somewhat as I am aging. Years ago i would have rather made a ruckous, now I just want to get along.
Yes, I would talk with his wife. He might also be having some early dementia or other issues since his surgery.
I think the electric fence is a good idea too and the fake cameras.
And btw, guineas that close to a neighbor would tick me off too. They are too loud to make for good neighbors. I have a neighbor over a mile a way that I hear his peacocks screeching.
