Well, I'm glad there are people out there that feel the same way I do. Unfortunately there must not be many of them here. I'm pretty new to this area, and find it WAY different than "Happy Valley" (aka Utah Valley) Utah where I came from. See there, people were pretty good about doing what they say they would. They don't have much and they really appreciate what they do have. They garden and can and do all those homey things that help make your income go farther.
Here, everybody has way too much. If they want it, they just buy it and they don't really have to work for anything so they don't learn to appreciate it. Now I know I'm generalizing here, but that's what I'm seeing. I tell people that I'm growing a garden, and they look at me with that "I'm so sorry you are that poor" look. Either that or like "how do you know how to do that"? It's a whole new strange world to me.
My feeling is if you take on the responsibility of an animal, ANY animal, whether it's meant for food or fun, you have a stewardship to make sure that animal is well cared for and treated until the time it fulfills the purpose of it's creation, even if that is dinner.
But see, people just aren't responsible anymore. It's always somebody else's fault for everything. Oh, and this will kill you. People here drive 5-10 mile UNDER the speed limit. Talk about laid back.
