I had first popped the top off at the air cell but didn't rupture the membrane. When I turned it on it's side the membrane filled outand made a bubble looking thing in the end. But it's not open there other than the shell is gone.

Personally I wouldn't try to hatch a double yolk egg.

But if the press and seal works, it might be educational for a kid to watch a chick develop!

Well, good news! HE'S STILL ALIVE!!!!! I can't believe it! But he's still doing very well. He must be a fighter.

Thanks for the support folks! I will keep updating and let you all know how he's doing and if he makes it. I did a more detailed check on him (very carefully I might add, sweat poring and all slowly) and noticed the press n' seal was not sticking so well on one corner in the air cell end where the possible dead chick is. I cut some of the sticky part of a band aid and taped the corner that wasn't sticking. The one I KNOW is alive is still fine, and his covering is holding great. IF this work I may try something like this with an egg from day one after all my girls get established laying. If I can score a window in the side of the egg and cover it with press 'n seal and it grows, how cool would that be to watch a chick grow like that. I thought I saw a vid on youtube where a girl had grown a duckling in a petri-dish. Gave me the idea of trying to grow a chick in a sterilized glass baby food jar. Though I don't know what the effects would be for hatching. I need to make sure these guys make it first and wait til I get better at incubating ( and certainly candling) and my girls are all laying. But there's no harm in contemplating.
