Anda, being a Cornish cross, will need special attention to prolong her life as she was designed to put on meat weight very quickly and the stress of that process and her final size can cause fatal issues.

indeed, i did extensive research and have found a great diet plan, she's already loosing weight! she's on a high calcium layer feed + restricted feed schedule. the layer feed also benefits the other 2 (curry is laying eggs). i had another cornish x before her named wendy, she lived to 8 months old before 3 stray dogs killed her and another chicken i had. she was thin and never had any leg issues. thank you!

thank you ,everyone in my family loved wendy it was extremely sad, Anda is just as friendly and loves to follow me and sit under my chair haha. haven't seen any stray dogs since though.

Glad to meet you, and welcome to BYC. Good for you for rescuing those lovely ladies. Is your user name a reflection of an interest in pigeons as well? We have a forum for people who keep pigeons and doves.

That is so sad about Wendy. The other birds are consolation, I am sure, but I know I always keep my former pets in my heart.

OOh, depending on your set up, you may be able to improve the predator protection for your birds.
