aint laying

my hens arent laying.. whats the matter?

what are ou feeding them?how much light are they getting?they should have 14 hours,,and are they molting ?

they have the choice to go outside or not, and their being fed a mixture of layer feed and crushed corn/scratch feed

Nix the corn/scatch mix. It builds up heat, not so great for this time of year. It is a cold weather feed.

first off, how old are they, are they young pullets, maybe they are not yet ready.

no their older. they were around 8-9 months when i got them.. and the guy i got them from said they had just started laying. do chickens sometimes take spells where they dont lay?

yes they do. If thet don't get enoughh light or when they are molting, and they may not lay as well when it starts to get cold and they are not getting enough light.

How long have you had them? Could be they are still settling in? I know mine are just finishing moulting...eggs are starting to come again. ( FINALLY) Maybe yours are moulting as well? Also...I agree....stop ALL corn products in the heat. They need layer feed...and water...and of course a few veggies and fruit! LOL
