**Air Cell & Candeling Question** Still Can't See The Air Cell...

I don't think being upside down will hurt much, I have had them given to me marked and I put them in the bator like that, didn't realize until day 10 that is was upside down. I just carefully flipped it back. I don't think it would matter in the first 14 days as they have plenty of room to still move around. I haven't tested it, but like I said I have had a couple that I didn't notice until after day 10 and one was about day 16......both had no problems. What is your humidity at? If it's too high then the eggs won't lose the proper water weight and the cell won't enlarge as it's supposed to. Good luck

Thanks... whew. I feel better!

Its at 45%

Is that ok? That is what the manufacured directions said (well, between 40%-50%).

I have a Octogon 20 advance with humidity module so the humidity is steady.

it's probably fine, you will have to find what works best for you, in your climate, altitude, etc.....keep track of everything and you will make changes and find the right thing for you. Last summer I incubated at 30% but this spring it is not enough, also I realized different egg color/type requirements are different. This is a learning process....
Just relax and enjoy

Thanks!

Yep, did look at that page... but for some reason there aren't any obvious air cells (Except the one now).

I tried like a million different lights (All in under 5 minutes! I was prepared...)

It's got to be 'I don't have any children so I'm putting all of my hopes and dreams into these little chicken eggs' syndrome!

Uh Oh... I may have a problem... tee hee.

Thanks KLF, I am going to go have a glass of wine and r.e.l.a.x!

Unless you have candled before i think it is best to wait until day 8 as it is easier to see veining etc. After you have been doing it awhile it becomes easier as you know what your looking for.

I don't even bother to candle until day 8 as the babies can be at a very fragile stage of development on day 3 or so.

Some good references I found helpful. http://www.minkhollow.ca/HatchingProgram/page-2.html
