Hello,

I have just received some shipped eggs and the air cells are very odd, there is a darker bit covering about a quarter of the egg(large end) and the air cell is rolling around inside it. I would keep them in an egg box during incubation but they are going under a broody hen.

Also the breeder shipped then small end up!

I have turned them large end up, shall I leave for 24hrs before putting them under her?

Thanks

I can sympathize with you! The air cells in the shipped eggs I received in early April were a mess.

If you have an incubator, I'd recommend incubating them upright for 10 to 14 days, with gentle tilting from side to side after the first 3 stationary days of incubation. This would give the air cells time to stabilize and hopefully attach before putting them under your broody hen. You could hold her on the nest with infertile eggs during that time period.

If that's not an option, store them large end upright for 24-48 hours before putting them under her.

Ok, I don't think they are that bad, don't have an incubator so I will wait till tommorow to put them under her,

Thanks
