In the Brooder

This is our first year doing chickens. We have done turkeys in the past and moving to chickens this year. We had an accident in our brooder tonight. Chicks are 17 days old. In the barn we had a bottle of pine sol dump over. I am guessing it was spilled 3-4 hours before it was noticed. The smell filled the room. The floor is concrete. I mopped up as much as i could. Washed the floor and moved anything else that got wet (buckets, other equipment) outside. I am concerned about their respiratory system. The smell was overwhelming and burning sensation. It is much better now, some residual odor but not much. Any advice for any damage that may have been done? i was planning to put them out on pasture next day or two. Temps down to 30 forecast for next week, but they will three weeks old then so i believe they should withstand that.. I am also concerned about any residual odor for next batch coming along. Thanks for any assistance.

I think you effort to clean things up is probably sufficient. Your chicks are still too young to be in the outdoors, when temps are as low as you predicted. You can take them out during the day if temps are warm. Chicks need to feather out 4 to 6 week depending on breed. Most breeds closer to the 6 week . Of course if it was July, and temps were high, then it is different circumstances.
Ventilate your barn well tomorrow and the remaining odor will blow away.
I don't think pine-sol is very toxic. :idunno
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:
