'Airing eggs' once a day?!

The 35% is kind of a “dry” hatch and if you look it up in articles, most people say it’s the best method they have used. I do believe that it is my best method with getting 80-100% hatch rates.
I read about it a while ago, but just confused me even more. Thinking about it, it doesn't make any sense to have the humidity at 58% - the hen wouldn't be able to achieve that sitting on them either! I'll try 35% and keep you posted.

Hi!

Update on the hatch.

I received 8 replacement eggs.
I weighed them all and figured out how much they have to lose during incubation.

4 eggs were infertile and 2 developed blood rings.

Well. The remaining two are hatching right now. First time they actually hatch on day 21.

This thread was very helpful. I will use the same technique next time!

Thank you!!!

Where did you get your eggs from that 4 out of 8 were infertile? In not criticizing, just curious. I always use my own eggs, and I never have more than one in twenty infertile. Who knows, maybe my rooster is just a mating machine. :D. Good luck with the little ones.

I got the eggs from TradeMe (Ebay equivalent in New Zealand). There's a lot of private people on there selling their eggs. I have been very lucky with most sellers and great hatch rates. This guy with the Anconas was the only one around, so I gave it a go. First hatch gave me one chick out of 13 eggs, half were infertile. Breeder person sent me 8 replacements without problems. Those eggs came from down South where it is pretty cold right now, so guessing that was a factor. Well...
Counting my losses and moving on.
