Before anything else happens, is there a leash law? Maybe you should go talk to them since they are new neighbors, and express your concerns. That would be better to meet them BEFORE something else happens. Dogs sure can cause bad blood between neighbors.

It seems they've already caused bad blood by not contacting the goat's owners! I would deffinately put up more wire to protect your stock and look into the laws regarding leashes and such. The owners shouldn't be allowed to keep their dog if they can't keep it contained and if they cannot be respectful enough to their new neighbors to repay the damage done by their dog. Animal control will certainly take the dog(s) if they are attacking other animals in the neighborhood, it could be a child next time!

One of our neighbors has two akita mix dogs.When we first moved in these doggs would appear on our property. At that time we did not know who they belonged to. Our old rottie would play with them (he's kind of to old to really play, but it's what passes for play with him). Everything was fine until one day about the fifth time they had gotten out of their fenced yard and came visiting, they both attacked our Rottie! He had not ever been in a fight before, he just wants to play with all dogs.I had just broken my ankle badly and was not supposed to be up on it. I mangaged to scare them off by screaming at them. He had one on his back and one one his head. Luckily the didn't tear him up too bad, his ear was messed up and he had a few gashes and a bad puncture on his side. The owner was very nice, he came right over to see if he was okay and to offer to pay for any vet bills. My DH told him that the dogs had been fine as long as they had just been visiting but once they attacked that was it, if we saw them on our property again, to protect our dogs and our DGD we would shoot them. For the next three months he had workers at his house every day reinforcing his fence and building a better run that they could not escape from. they have not gotten out since.

I had a friend many years ago that bred Akitas. They are not a dog for everyone. Training of course is key but I have found that no matter what the breed once they have attacked an animal as they did your neighbors goat this will not be the last time or the last animal. They would definately love your chickens so beware. Where there are two running together they are in pack mode with a high prey drive. Once something starts running the chase is on and they will bring it down. They are strong powerful dogs. It really stinks when something like this comes into your area because now you will be worried all the time. I hope the owners DO end up being responsible and the goat owner should definately report what happened to have it on record.

Like, you bake chicken right? And bake turkey's and hams? Since that's when it goes into the oven. Or is broil just using the top element in the over to cook from top to bottom?

I'm only familar with soups, bbq's, stir fry's, and baking. Where's google.. off to search land.

I would look up those laws like everyone said and be sure to hand them a vet bill.

This is what the owners should have done about their dogs attacking the goat!!! That would be good owners! Ignoring the situation like it never happened infuriates me! I can't stand it when people do not keep their dogs contained. I can tell you that my b/f isn't as patient as I am and the dog WOULD NOT last if it came onto our property! Those people are lucky the dogs haven't "disappeared" already for what they've already done. I hope that you or the owners of the goat do not hesitate to try to get the situation under control before an attack happens again, please keep us updated.​
