ALABAMA what can we do?

Thank you so much for thinking of us. I'm in Blountsville and we're ok. If someone has hatching eggs they would like to send I have an incubator. Please put me at the end of your list. My coop was tipped in the storm. I had my broodies and their chicks housed there. I have it fixed so that I can separate my hens into compartments to keep them off the ground, dry, and healthy. Unfortunately, one of the hens and chicks took the heavy rains while it was on its side. I only lost three baby cochins who were crushed by their water can in the storm, and have had three more die. I imagine it was stress related that caused them to die today. That being said, I am truly blessed to be here! There are so many more people with greater needs than me! I have neighbors who were trapped in their houses, and have total property losses. You can never imagine the damage in my neighborhood and town! Many are still without phones and power. Others don't even have homes. Also, I attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and there are still hundreds of people missing. Again, I truly thank all of you for thinking of us. Please keep all of those suffering in your prayers.

I Love Bama and my prayers are with all those affected by the tornados there and in the other states as well. All of my family are ok.........Thank You Lord!

there is a guy i know that always came to the fair grounds to show chickens here in Dekalb county Al and he was on his way home wensday and he called his wife and told her to get their 3 boys and herself in a safe place and it hit right then and threw the 3 boys and his wife in the feild close to his house and it killed his wife and his 3 boys are in bad shape but they think they are going to be fine the Alabama showBird association here in Fort Payne AL we knew they had alot of chickens and they lost all of them and the pens we are going to build all new pens for them and donate some chickens and feed and water pans and some chicken feed so that there will be something kind of normal for the kids when they get home from the hospital.

That's great that you are willing to help. There's just so much tragedy and sadness it helps to hear good things!

My family and property are safe and I spent the week after the tornado working on getting supplies into the disaster areas. You will be happy to hear that I did, in fact, transport 75 pounds of chicken feed to a distribution center in one of the hardest hit areas a day or so after the tornado hit. I have had my ear to the calls for assistance and I haven't heard of any other poultry related needs. I imagine most of the chicken keepers in the affected areas are "old school" and probably wouldn't be members here. But I'm glad I am and if I put out a chicken SOS, you guys would be my superman.

Thank you so much for thinking of Alabama. We had minor roof damage and trees uprooted when a EF1 went through our neighboorhood. When I came out of the basement I was so happy to see the coops still standing!!!! I saw the one that hit Harvest. I was thanking God I was not in its path and praying for those who were.
My Mom works for Disaster Services for the Red Cross. I'll ask her to watch for "chicken people".
Thanks again for thinking of us.
