ALABAMA!!

I finally got eggs!

It's only been about 11 months since I got them( will exclude my silkies since they are younger).

Hopefully, my other will follow her example and lay an egg.

BTW, Tomtom- Thanks for the eggs. I had relatives over the weekend and they all enjoyed it.
Congrats!

Uh... no.

I have a Blue/Black Splash Ameracauna rooster and hen, as well as two Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hens.  If I hatch the Splash girl's eggs, the chicks will all be B/B Splash.  If I hatch the BW hens' eggs, the chicks will be full Ameraucana, but not a recognized variety (mixed B/B/S an BW.)  I have NO IDEA what color they would be, but they would be blue egg layers.

Now, the question........ I have over a dozen pretty blue eggs that I have gotten this past week and it is all I can do not to stick them in the incubator.  If I DID, would any of you be interested in the chicks?

I bet they would be beautiful! You should defiantly do it I doubt you have a problem finding good homes.

I saw that here also Tomtommom.
Is it time for chicks already? I was thinking it is still too cold. I'm ready for babies! But what do I know?
A quick question for you wiser chicken people. I've read on inbreeding. I don't have purebreds, so all that stuff was useless reading.
I lost my 'head' roo and need to replace him, but is it ok to keep one of the offspring to be Mr. Roo?
The second in command has stepped up nicely, but its a big job for one lil man.

Bex -- I have a gorgeous Dorking cockeral with a crooked comb that I won't be using for breeding, and I have no desire to set up a processing table for 1 bird. Very mild mannered and keeping company with the egg layers. You are welcome to him if you like. zip is 35040

I'm tempted!! LOVE blue eggs!! Pics of eggs???? Huh?? Huh??

Mine are boring white, but BIG!! I did add a couple of brown egg layers for contrast, but that picture needs BLUE eggs.

I have a lovely egg basket these days, dark brown, medium brown, light brown, tan, cream and a single blue. I can't WAIT for the little ones to grow up, we should see dark brown, olive or blue

That blue egg in the box makes me happy every time I find it.

I need to take some pictures of what I receive from the ladies.

We're going to have some extra cockerels, as neither Wisher or I will need 6 of them

They're super sweet.. but they're mutts. Could get some olive egger genes or blue egger genes though. And they ARE pretty.

I have some nice leghorn roosters. Both mille fleur and brown and some bantam cochin roosters if anyone is in need. Y'all save them from freezer camp.

It's been a long time since we heard from you. The cochins I got from you are doing great. They turn out really pretty. I had some photographer friends come over just to take their pics for their portfolio.

I'm finally down to 3 chickens! I had 7 Blue Oprington roos and one pullet. I re-homed 6 of the roos and a lady gave me a Black Australorp.

Things are much less crowded and my feed bill dropped sharply. The remaining roo, Dumbledore, is turning out to be a great rooster and turning downright beautiful.
