ALABAMA!!

Can someone help me please?! One of the chicks has been trying to hatch for 24 hours now. I raised humidity and everything! It is opening and closing its mouth. What can I do? Here is a picture.

With that big of a hole I would say it's on its way out. If it is peeping and moving leave it alone for a little while longer. There is a good thread on here about assisted hatching. I'm sorry I don't know how to link to it.

It just hatched. Thanks for trying to help me! It looks healthy and is very cute even though it is wet!

I have a sick OE pullet this morning. :( Not sure what is going on with her yet, but I made her an isolation crate in case she’s contagious and because the others were picking on her. She’s lethargic (normally I can’t get near her, but I waked right up to her and picked her up) and fluffed up. Her comb is flopped over and pale, and she’s keeping her eyes closed. Her abdomen and crop feel normal, and her vent is clean/normal. She’s last laid two days ago (she’s only been laying 2-3 eggs per week, so that’s not unusual either). Haven’t seen her feces yet, but she’s not eating or drinking. No discharge from eyes or nose, but her breathing might be a little raspy. She was fine yesterday. Poor thing.

One of my hens had the same symptoms she was egg bound. She later died and I was absolutely devastated. I don't know if it is the same thing considering your hen lays 2-3 eggs per week.

She didn’t make it. I don’t think she was egg bound. I’m going to take her to the diagnostic lab on Monday morning. Hopefully it was nothing contagious, and the other birds will be fine! Fingers and toes crossed.
