Things you wish you could say

I couldn't sleep the night before my chickens were supposed to arrive the first time i ordered them. I called the post office the day before to tell them to call me as soon as theyre willing to let me come in the morning. She told me she gets in at 6 so I set my alarms for 5am so I could get their brooder warmed up and filled with bedding food and water before she called and then sat by the phine waiting so I could drive straight there as I was so nervous about their wellbeing I didnt fall asleep till almost 3. I cannot imagine ordering chicks knowing theyre living beings and not being concerned in the slightest for their wellbeing because they arrived at an inconvenient time. I do meat animals as well so this isnt about them being livestock vs pets. Theyre living beings whether theyre pets or nourishment or both, they deserve respect
We love the people like you ❤️ and most do what you do. Just the few, they are often repeat offenders. We called the hatchery one time report a no pick up turns out it was a second offense. They were band from ordering from them.

The shipped chickens in my town are also lucky because both of the postal workers in our very rural small post office also have chickens and they have a policy in place that if they're left for 24 hours the employees take them home.
